BREAKING: SKEEM SAAM ACTOR LUNGA MOFOKENG REPORTEDLY ATTACKED AMID BACKLASH OVER HIS MR Q CHARACTER
Skeem Saam actor Lunga Mofokeng has reportedly been caught up in a disturbing incident after facing growing criticism from some viewers over his controversial character, Qhomane, popularly known as Mr Q.
A video circulating on social media appears to show Mofokeng inside his vehicle during the late afternoon on Thursday, 2 October 2026, while voices can be heard in the background.
At one point, people are heard shouting words including “serpent” and “snake”, followed by what sounds like a gunshot.
However, it has not been confirmed whether Mofokeng was shot or physically injured during the incident. In the video, the actor appears to drive away from the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and it is not yet established whether the people involved were genuinely angry viewers, whether the confrontation was directly linked to his Skeem Saam character, or whether there was another reason behind the incident.
𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗡𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗥𝗬
Mofokeng’s character, Mr Q, has become a major talking point among Skeem Saam viewers since his arrival at Turf High.
The character is portrayed as a young, charming and confident teacher who initially appears to have all the qualities expected from an inspiring educator. However, the storyline has increasingly explored the darker side of his interactions with learners.
His involvement with Arabang, followed by his apparent move towards Mosebjadi, has left some viewers deeply uncomfortable.
Some fans have argued that the storyline is portraying an important social issue — the way some adults in positions of authority can take advantage of vulnerable teenage girls.
For those viewers, the storyline is part of the show’s broader educational and social commentary.
But others have reacted very differently.
Some viewers say they are uncomfortable with children being exposed to storylines involving teachers becoming romantically or intimately involved with school learners. They fear that younger viewers could misunderstand what they are seeing on screen or interpret such behaviour as acceptable.
That disagreement has made Mr Q one of the more controversial characters on the show.
𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗔 𝗠𝗢𝗙𝗢𝗞𝗘𝗡𝗚 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗦𝗞𝗘𝗘𝗠 𝗦𝗔𝗔𝗠 IN 2026
Mofokeng joined the SABC 1 drama series Skeem Saam earlier this year after previously appearing in Mzansi Magic’s The River.
He made his debut as Qhomane, also known as Mr Q, on Monday, 9 February 2026.
The character was introduced as a sharp, articulate and effortlessly confident teacher arriving at Turf High School.
Speaking about the role at the time, Mofokeng described Qhomane as a fascinating character with different layers beneath his confident exterior.
The storyline has since taken the character in a much more controversial direction.
𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗢 RAISES QUESTIONS
The video circulating online is now raising concern among viewers who have been following the actor’s storyline.
The voices heard in the background and the apparent sound of a gunshot have understandably caused speculation, but there is currently no confirmed information establishing that Mofokeng was shot or that he suffered any injury.
It is also important not to assume that the people heard in the video were attacking him because of his television role until that connection is confirmed.
Fans are now waiting for more information about what happened and whether the actor is safe.
For now, the footage remains the main source of the claims circulating online, and the full circumstances surrounding the incident have yet to be established.
More information will be added as confirmed details become available.
