South Africa – Activist **”Phakel’umthakathi” Ndabandaba** has revealed that he arrived late for yesterday’s march after allegedly receiving intelligence that there was a plot to kill him before the event.

According to the activist, the information reached him shortly before he was due to travel to the gathering, prompting an immediate change to his security arrangements. He said the warning was serious enough to force him to abandon his original travel plans and make alternative arrangements in an effort to protect his safety.

Speaking about the incident, Ndabandaba explained that he was advised not to use the vehicle that had initially been arranged for his trip. Instead, he travelled in a different vehicle after receiving reports that unknown individuals were allegedly planning to target him.

The last-minute change reportedly caused significant delays, resulting in his late arrival at the march. Despite the setback, the activist eventually made it to the event and joined supporters who had already gathered.

Ndabandaba said the intelligence he received could not be ignored, adding that he believed taking extra precautions was the responsible decision under the circumstances. While he did not publicly identify those allegedly behind the reported plot, he maintained that the threat was considered credible enough to warrant immediate action.

His claims have sparked widespread discussion on social media, with supporters expressing concern for his safety and praising him for prioritising his security. Others have called for authorities to investigate the allegations thoroughly to determine whether there was indeed a genuine threat against the activist.

At this stage, no official statement has been released by law enforcement confirming the existence of a planned attack or indicating whether a formal criminal investigation has been opened into the alleged assassination plot. The allegations therefore remain unverified.

The reported security scare comes amid heightened tensions surrounding recent public demonstrations, where emotions have run high and activists have become increasingly vocal on various national issues. In such an environment, concerns about the safety of organisers and prominent figures have continued to attract public attention.

Ndabandaba has not indicated whether he intends to lay criminal charges or provide further details regarding the intelligence he received. However, his comments have intensified conversations about the security risks faced by public figures involved in activism and mass mobilisation.

As investigations, if any, unfold, many South Africans will be watching closely to see whether authorities provide clarity on the alleged threat. For now, Ndabandaba insists that changing vehicles was necessary to protect his life, even though the decision ultimately delayed his arrival at yesterday’s march.

Further updates are expected should police or the activist release additional information regarding the alleged security threat.
